Avon success at Tier 4 - February 2023




Well done to everyone who competed in the Avon Tier 4 on Saturday 11th February, and special congratulations to all the Avon medalists.


Anna Webster was the women's singles gold medallist (pictured with the runner up Geethika Allanku of Berkshire).


In the mixed, Avon's Andrew Salvador and Emily Hung (Wales) took the gold, beating Avon's Valeriia Zhdanova and Andre Cardoso in the semi final.


Georgia Creed and her partner Ella Darlington (Kent) took the bronze in the women's doubles, losing to the eventual gold medallists Emily Hung and Nerissa Liu.


In the men's doubles, Andrew Salvador and Swang Nguyen took the bronze medal, losing in the semi final to the event's gold medalists Ben Wang and Tianshu Zhao. Andre Cardoso and Kahoo Tse reached the quarter finals, alongside David Bailey and Andrew Chan of Avon who also lost to the eventual winners.


In the mixed, David Bailey and his partner Nerissa Liu (Wales - Mid Glamorgan) reached the quarter finals, as did Alice Lamb and Callum Nicholls.


The men's singles was won by the Isle of Man's Alexander Buck, who beat Warwickshire's Kwan Tai Marco Wong in the final.


A huge thank you to the tireless work of tournament organiser Bob Hammersley, and to his team of volunteers on the day - Val O'Neill, Penny Shears, Joanna Elson, Moira Roberts, Mary Clarke and Judith Ogden.
